Artist Bio

Sheryl Legier Gruenig

Raised on the bayous of French Acadiana, Sheryl’s artistic journey started under the tutelage of a prominent Louisiana art educator and artist.  Rooted in her grandparents farmlands the landscapes instilled a deep appreciation for nature which she translates in her art. Drawing on her expertise as an interior designer and her passion for art, she honors the legacy of Anna Atkins, the 19th century botanist who pioneered the sun printing process to create the first illustrated book using Cyanotype. She embraces cyanotype as a unique process that captures the ephemeral shadows of botanicals and objects.

Sheryl's art, encompassing cyanotype, mixed media, collage, and encaustic (often combined in original works), captures transient moments and imperfections, inviting viewers to find serenity and joy in the everyday. Discovery and experimentation inspires her to create.
